In a groundbreaking development, Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor, Chief Medical Director of Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH), Port Harcourt, played host to eminent delegates from the University of Oxford, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, UK Health Security Agency, UKaid, NCDC, and more. The distinguished visitors embarked on a comprehensive tour of RSUTH’s state-of-the-art facilities ahead of the commencement of the International MPOX Collaboration Research.

 

RSUTH, recently selected as one of only four centers in Nigeria for this prestigious research collaboration, is set to join forces with global institutions to advance medical breakthroughs expecially in the area of Infectious Disease control. Prof. Alikor, expressing confidence in RSUTH’s readiness and capacity, highlighted the hospital’s state of the art Infectious Disease Unit as one of the best in the country. He also emphasized the hospital’s commitment to delivering exceptional healthcare services, training and research.

 

In a commendable gesture, Prof. Alikor extended gratitude to His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS, the Executive Governor of Rivers State, for unwavering support in the pursuit of providing top-notch healthcare services to the people of Rivers State. This collaboration promises a new era of medical excellence and international research synergy, placing RSUTH at the forefront of cutting-edge advancements in the healthcare landscape in Rivers State and by extension Nigeria.
