Regular activities in the office of the Chief Medical Director (CMD) Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor Chief Medical Director of the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, Port Harcourt from Monday 31st July to 4th August, 2023, running through working days of the week.
~ MONDAY 31st July, 2023
The office, Monday 31st July, 2023 opened her doors to receive visitations, memos etc.
1. PROF. CHIZINDU A. ALIKOR OFFICIALLY RESUMES OFFICE AS NEW CMD:
Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor officially resumed office today as the new Chief Medical Director (CMD) Rivers State University Teaching Hospital. The Handover process started with a meeting with the Former CMD, Dr. Friday Aaron where the handover note was presented to the new CMD.
2. NEW CMD’s TOUR OF RSUTH FACILITIES:
As part of the activities marking the official handover, the CMD, Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor made his first tour to inspect the Rivers State University Teaching hospital critical facilities and was led by the DCMD, Dr. Alali Dan-Jumbo. RSUTH Units visited are Children’s Ward, Finance and Accounts, Accident and Emergency Department, Ophthalmology, Infectious Disease Unit, ONG theater, Labour Ward, Blood Bank, Histology Lab, Radiology Department, Rural Electrification Project plant, Dental Clinic, new Pathology building, and the Plant house.

3. THE CMD DECLARES OPEN 2023 WORLD BREASTFEEDING WEEK (WBW) CELEBRATION IN RSUTH:
The first week of August is earmarked annually for World Breastfeeding Week. This year, WBW 2023, selected the theme: “Let’s make breastfeeding and work, work!” was declared open in Rivers State University Teaching Hospital by the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor. The Breastfeeding week aim to raise awareness of the health and wellbeing outcomes of breastfeeding and the importance of supporting mothers to breastfeed for as long as they wish.
4. THE CMD MEETS WITH HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE (HMC) OF RSUTH:
The Chief Medical Director of the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH), Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor, had his first official meeting with the Hospital Management Committee (HMC) at the Conference hall to discuss core management issues related to the development of the Hospital.

5. PRAYER SESSION TO DEDICATE THE NEW RSUTH LEADERSHIP TO THE HANDS OF GOD:
The Management and Staff of the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) led by the Chief Medical Director Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor had an inaugural Prayer Session to dedicate the new RSUTH leadership to the hands of God. Strategic prayers of rededication and declarations were offered to the glory of God and to chart a new course for the Hospital. The CMD announced the RSUTH Wide Prayer (RWP) to be held quarterly in the Hospital. The CMD also announced the RSUTH Monthly Prayer and Fasting (RMPF) to be held every first Wednesday of the month.
6. THE CMD INTERACTS WITH THE RSUTH MEDICAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE (MAC):
The Chief Medical Director of the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH), Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor met with the Medical Advisory Committee (MAC) of RSUTH to discuss healthcare services delivery and other issues related to the development of the Hospital.
7. THE CMD INTERACTS WITH MDCAN RIVERS STATE IN RSUTH:
The Chief Medical Director of the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH), Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor met with the Medical and Dental Consultants’ Association of Nigeria (MDCAN) Rivers State to discuss healthcare services delivery and other issues related to the development of the Hospital.
8. THE CMD INTERACTS WITH PHARMACISTS IN RSUTH:
The Chief Medical Director (CMD) Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor and other members of Management of the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) had an interactive session with the Department of Pharmacy to address some key issues as it affects the growth of the Department and the Hospital.

9. THE CMD RECEIVES THE LEADERSHIP OF FAMILY MEDICINE DEPARTMENT ON SOLIDARITY/ADVOCACY VISIT:
The Chief Medical Director (CMD) Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor received and welcomed the leadership of Family Medicine Department ably led by the HOD Dr. Simon Uriah on a Solidarity/Advocacy visit at his office to congratulate him on his appointment and to also officially present a branded name and table tag to him. It was a robust and productive discussion with the CMD.
10. THE CMD PERFORMS OVERSIGHT FUNCTIONS TO INSPECT HOSPITAL FACILITIES:
The Chief Medical Director (CMD) Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor and other members of Management of the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) performed oversight functions by inspecting some facilities at the hospital and immediately addressed some emergency issues as it affects service delivery to serve the public better.
11. THE CMD INTERACTS WITH THE HEADS OF PATHOLOGY DEPARTMENTS AND ALL MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENTISTS:
The Chief Medical Director (CMD) Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor and other members of Management of the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) had an interactive session with the Heads of Pathology Departments and all Medical Laboratory Scientists to address some key issues as it affects the growth of the Department and the Hospital.
12. THE CMD INTERACTS WITH THE ADMINISTRATIVE AND ACCOUNTS DEPARTMENT:
The Chief Medical Director (CMD) Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor and other members of Management of the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) met with the Administrative and Accounts Departments of the hospital to discuss and take decisions on some key issues as it affects the growth of the Departments and the Hospital.

13. HEALTH MANAGER-COMMUNITY HEALTH SHELL NIGERIA COURTESY/FAMILIARIZATION VISIT TO THE CMD:
The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor, warmly welcomed and received the Health Manager – Community Health, Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Ltd to the hospital on a familiarization/courtesy visit to the Chief Medical Director CMD, RSUTH.
14. CMD VISITS THE HEAD OF SERVICE RIVERS STATE:
The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor visits the Head of Service Rivers State Government Dr. George Nwaeke for official matters to move the Hospital forward.
15. CMD VISITS THE VICE CHANCELLOR, RIVERS STATE UNIVERSITY:
The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor visits the Vice Chancellor, Rivers State University Prof. Nlerum Sunday Okogbule for official matters to move the Hospital forward.
