RSUTH received high praise from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria

𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚 (𝐍𝐏𝐌𝐂𝐍) 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝗶𝗻 𝐏𝐚𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝟐𝟐𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝟐𝟑𝐫𝐝 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒.

The Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) proudly hosted a visit from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN) accreditation team on April 22nd and 23rd, 2024.

The team, led by Professor Emmanuel Ekanem, included esteemed members Prof. Agozie Ubesie and Prof. Petronilla Tabansi. Their purpose was to evaluate the Paediatrics Department’s residency training program.

Professor Chizindu A. Alikor, Chief Medical Director (CMD) of RSUTH, along with other members of the hospital’s management committee, extended a warm welcome to the accreditation team.

The two-day visit involved a comprehensive review of the Paediatrics Department’s residency program. This includes:

* Review of curriculum and training materials.

* Observation of resident activities, such as rounds and patient consultations.

* Assessment of faculty qualifications and teaching methods.

* Evaluation of the department’s facilities and resources.

The Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) received high praise from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN) accreditation team. The team commended the leadership of Chief Medical Director (CMD), Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor, for the hospital’s:

* Effective leadership

* Improved hygiene standards

* Renewed growth trajectory

* Enhanced healthcare delivery

In response, Prof. Alikor expressed his gratitude to His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS, Governor of Rivers State for his unwavering commitment to improving healthcare in Rivers State. The Governor’s support, through fulfilled promises to healthcare workers and resource allocation, has significantly contributed to RSUTH’s positive transformation.

This accreditation visit highlights the significant progress made at RSUTH under Prof. Alikor’s leadership and Governor Fubara’s administration. The improved facilities and healthcare delivery will ultimately benefit the patients and the entire Rivers State community.

The RSUTH administration and department are fully committed to achieving successful accreditation. This process ensures the program continues to provide residents with the highest quality training in paediatric medicine, ultimately preparing them to deliver exceptional patient care to children throughout the South-South region and Nigeria at large.
