Professor Chizindu A. Alikor confirmation as the substantive Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH).

His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS, Governor of Rivers State, has confirmed the appointment of Professor Chizindu A. Alikor as the substantive Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH). Professor Alikor previously served as the Acting CMD since his appointment in July 2023.

Governor Fubara expressed his confidence in Professor Alikor’s leadership abilities and praised his contributions to RSUTH during his tenure as Acting CMD.

Professor Alikor’s dedication to patient care and his vision for the future of RSUTH are commendable. The confirmation as CMD marks a new chapter for RSUTH. With his experience and leadership, the hospital can look forward to a future of continued growth and excellence in patient care.

1. Opening of the Intensive Care Unit of RSUTH.
2. Opening of the Burns Unit of RSUTH
3. Opening of Modular Theatre of RSUTH
4. Opening of the RSUTH oxygen plant
5. Recommencement of 24hrs power supply
6. Promotion of Staff as approved by His Excellency
7. Ongoing employment of Staff as approved by His Excellency
8. International collaboration with Salford Royal Hospital, Manchester, UK for Renal training.
9. International collaboration with Oxford University, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine on Monkey pox research
10. Setting up of RSUTH Institute of Infectious Disease
11. Commendation visit of the US Consul General and collaboration with US-CDC and IHVN
12. Improved welfare of Staff
13. Training and retraining of staff of RSUTH.
14. Improved visibility of RSUTH.
15. Opening of the Dental, maxillofacial, Opthalmology and ENT hospital as an annex of the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital.
16. RSUTH now 1st choice public hospital with Improved patient satisfaction.
