Rivers State Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has disclosed the intention of the state government to make the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) the best in the Country. Speaking while inspecting some tertiary healthcare facilities under construction the Governor expressed the desire of the state government to not only ensure the healthcare system is working effectively but to reduce medical tourism by replicating facilities found abroad in the state.

Governor Wike who said the projects are to be completed and equipped before May 2022 disclosed that the demand to deliver is on the contractors as they have all been paid in full.

Facilities inspected include the Dr Peter Odili Cancer and Cardiovascular Disease Diagnostic and Treatment Centre being constructed by Julius Berger, the Rivers State University, College of Medicine’s Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences and Faculty of Clinical Sciences, the Medical Pathology building and the Renal Centre at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, Port Harcourt.
