The Board of Management of the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) convened its inaugural meeting today, chaired by the esteemed Board Chairman, Dr. Altraide D. Dasetima. The meeting, held at the hospital premises, brought together key stakeholders to discuss and deliberate on various crucial matters pertaining to the institution’s management and progress.
The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of RSUTH, Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor gave a comprehensive briefing on the current state of the hospital and the advancements made since assuming office. Prof. Alikor provided the board members with an overview of the hospital’s achievements and challenges, emphasizing the strides taken under his leadership.
One of the central discussions during the meeting revolved around urgent matters, prominently the immediate commencement of staff promotions within RSUTH, as directed by His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, and Executive Governor of Rivers State. The board deliberated on the implementation strategy for the promotions, considering its significance in boosting morale and motivation among the hospital’s dedicated staff. Furthermore, the employment of additional staff also emerged as a crucial point of discussion. The board unanimously agreed to initiate the recruitment process promptly to address the growing needs of the hospital and ensure optimal healthcare services in the state. This decision aligns with the commitment to bolstering the workforce and improving overall patient care.
As part of the comprehensive approach to decision-making, the Board of Management took a proactive step by conducting a thorough tour of the hospital facilities. Led by the CMD, the board members assessed the infrastructure and equipment firsthand, gaining valuable insights into the areas that may require immediate attention or enhancements.
In a gesture of appreciation and dedication, the board unanimously thanked His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS, the Executive Governor of Rivers State, for providing them with the opportunity to serve Rivers people by contributing meaningfully to the healthcare sector in Rivers State. Recognizing the pivotal role of RSUTH in fulfilling the broader vision for healthcare, the board pledged its collective commitment to working harmoniously amongst themselves and working closely with the Rivers State Ministry of Health, ably led by the Hon. Commissioner, Dr. Adaeze Oreh, and committed to fostering a collaborative partnership to realize His Excellency’s vision for quality healthcare in Rivers State.
