Prof. Chizindu Alikor hosts Dr. Diamond Tamunokoro after landmark election victory in Kano

PORT HARCOURT, RIVERS STATE — The Rivers Progressive in Medicine group, led by the Chief Medical Director of the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH), Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor, has received the newly elected Secretary General of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Dr. Diamond Tamunokoro, during a courtesy visit to the hospital.

Dr. Tamunokoro, who emerged victorious at the just-concluded NMA National Elections in Kano, visited RSUTH to thank Prof. Alikor for his support throughout the campaign.

Describing Prof. Alikor as a leader worthy of emulation, Dr. Tamunokoro praised his commitment to mentoring and empowering younger professionals.

“As a family, we are proud to serve alongside the CMD. His support has been organic, natural, and consistent,” he said. “He creates an environment where people are allowed to grow, and that is true leadership. We thank him sincerely for his time and unwavering backing.”

In his response, Prof. Alikor congratulated Dr. Tamunokoro and welcomed members of the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) present. He commended the longstanding relationship between RSUTH and the NMA and stressed the need for progressive leadership built on experience, service, and strong professional networks.

“The call to leadership is a call to service. Serve the people, provide quality leadership, and build strong relationships within the medical community,” Prof. Alikor said.

He expressed pride in Dr. Tamunokoro’s victory, calling it a significant moment for Rivers State and the wider medical community.
