The newly elected Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Rivers State Branch, Dr (Prof.) Ureh Annabel Oparaodu, on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Medical Director, CMD, of Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor, to express gratitude for his visionary leadership and support.

In response, the CMD congratulated her on her well-deserved victory, commending her capacity, character and engagement, which he said were evident in the outcome of the election. He urged her to build on the progress made by previous NMA Rivers State leadership, including that of Dr. Diamond Tamunokoro, now Secretary General of the Nigerian Medical Association nationally, and to keep inclusiveness at the core of her programmes. He pledged his continued support and prayed for her success, urging her to press forward in advancing the medical field in Rivers State.

Prof. Oparaodu promised to lead with a progressive vision, pledging collaboration with the hospital and its leadership as she takes on the role. She reaffirmed her commitment to inclusiveness and fresh initiatives for the NMA Rivers State Branch.
