ACCREDITATION VISIT BY THE COMMUNITY HEALTH PRACTITIONERS REGULATORY BOARD OF NIGERIA TO RIVERS STATE UNIVERSITY TEACHING HOSPITAL (RSUTH)

The Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) hosted an accreditation visit by the Community Health Practitioners Regulatory Board of Nigeria on the 6th of November 2025. The event took place at the hospital’s Conference Hall and was attended by key officials of the hospital, members of the visiting board, and representatives from the Community Health Department.
The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of RSUTH, Professor Chizindu Alikor , warmly welcomed the accreditation team and commended their continued commitment to professionalism and excellence in health regulation. He emphasized the importance of teamwork and collaboration between the hospital and regulatory bodies, describing the hospital’s progress as a collective responsibility of all stakeholders. Professor Alikor further highlighted the series of successful accreditations already conducted within the hospital, noting that these milestones have strengthened RSUTH’s capacity as a top-tier teaching facility. He also acknowledged the intervention of the State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, whose administration has significantly contributed to the transformation and advancement of healthcare delivery in Rivers State.
The Head of the Community Health Department, Dr. Luke Anwuri, also welcomed the guests and expressed appreciation for the board’s visit and continued support.
During the session, Mr. Benebo Shiowo, representing the Community Health Practitioners Regulatory Board, delivered the first speech. He spoke extensively on professionalism and development, noting that as a regulatory body, their role is to inspect, evaluate, and ensure that standards are maintained in all community health training and service delivery activities. He explained that the visit was part of a routine process aimed at monitoring progress and sustaining the quality of community health practices across accredited institutions.
In his closing remarks, the CMD reiterated his commitment to partnering with the board to further strengthen community health education and service delivery in the state. The visit concluded with expressions of mutual appreciation and the taking of group photographs to mark the successful exercise.
