The Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) has unveiled its Service Excellence Unit (SERVEX), a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening accountability, professionalism, and patient-centred healthcare delivery across the institution. The ceremony, held at the hospital’s Infectious Disease Unit, was attended by the Head of Service, Rivers State Dr. (Mrs.) Inyingi S. I. Brown, alongside the Chief Medical Director RSUTH, Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor, management staff, and healthcare stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Alikor described SERVEX as a solution-driven platform designed to monitor service delivery, support staff, and ensure patients receive quality care with compassion and dignity. He emphasized that excellence must be intentional and measurable, noting that every interaction from professional conduct to patient engagement contributes to improved healthcare outcomes.
In her keynote remarks, Dr. Brown said the initiative represents a decisive step towards institutional transformation, stressing that citizens come to hospitals with trust and deserve efficient, professional, and responsive services. She urged staff to translate the hospital’s vision and core values into daily practice, aligning service delivery with global standards.
The Service Excellence Unit, which evolved from an earlier service-delivery framework, will focus on patient feedback, performance monitoring, and continuous quality improvement. The ceremony also featured the unveiling of the Service Excellence Handbook and electronic feedback channels aimed at strengthening transparency and responsiveness, reinforcing RSUTH’s commitment to building a culture where excellence is intentional and sustained.
