The Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) has today, 18th June, taken a significant step forward in patient care with the launch of Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) dialysis service. This advanced treatment will benefit critically ill patients with acute kidney injury.

The CRRT machine, designed for haemodynamically unstable patients, is expected to reduce mortality rates by up to 60%.

RSUTH’s Chief Medical Director Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor hailed the development, emphasizing the hospital’s commitment to providing quality renal care, especially for the critically ill on management in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Dr. Eleki Beniboba, Head of Renal Centre RSUTH, described the CRRT machine as a game-changer, enabling the hospital to manage complex cases effectively.

With this milestone, RSUTH reaffirms its dedication to best practices and improved patient outcomes.
