The Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) NHIA Unit on Saturday 1st November, 2025, concluded a one-day intensive capacity-building training in collaboration with AlmaMed Network Limited, a renowned healthcare technology and consulting organization. The workshop was designed to strengthen the hospital’s operational capacity, improve efficiency in health insurance management, and promote quality service delivery to patients under the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) scheme.

The training, which commenced promptly at 9:00 a.m. and ended at 4:00 p.m., brought together NHIA desk officers, administrative personnel, ICT staff, and other key stakeholders actively involved in patient care coordination and health insurance processes within RSUTH.

Opening Session

Declaring the session open, ACMD 1, Dr. Ureh Oparaodu, who represented the Chief Medical Director, expressed delight over the initiative, describing it as a “timely and transformative effort” to enhance institutional efficiency and accountability. She commended the AlmaMed Network Limited team for their unwavering commitment to strengthening healthcare systems across Nigeria and urged participants to take the training seriously, noting that “knowledge and continuous improvement remain the backbone of excellent healthcare delivery.”

Technical Sessions

In his address, Dr. Aloni Alali, NHIA Manager of RSUTH, acknowledged the collaborative partnership with AlmaMed Network Limited, emphasizing the need for continuous professional development to ensure alignment with NHIA’s evolving digital and operational standards. He noted that the training was structured to equip staff with practical skills in data management, claims processing, and digital integration – key areas essential to the hospital’s long-term efficiency.

The AlmaMed Network Limited facilitators led participants through engaging and interactive sessions, combining theory with hands-on demonstrations. Major highlights included:
