A two-day private facility–level training for health workers on the use of Multiple Micronutrient Supplements (MMS) was held at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) on 3rd and 4th February 2025, as part of efforts to strengthen nutrition-focused healthcare delivery in Rivers State.

The training was organized by the Rivers State Ministry of Health, Nutrition Department, in collaboration with RSUTH. It was graced by the Permanent Secretary Ministry Of Health, Prof. Mrs Justina Jumbo ably representing the Hon. Commissioner of Health Dr Adaeze Oreh as well as the Deputy Chief Medical Director of RSUTH, Dr Simeon Uriah.

Participants drawn from various spheres of healthcare delivery engaged in structured training sessions aimed at improving their knowledge and practical application of multiple micronutrient supplements in clinical settings. The sessions featured expert facilitators who led discussions on key topics, including the role of micronutrients in maternal nutrition, appropriate use of MMS, and best practices for integration into routine healthcare services.

The training provided a platform for interactive learning, experience sharing, and professional development, reinforcing the commitment of the Rivers State health sector to evidence-based nutrition interventions and improved quality of care across public and private health facilities.

At the end of the programme, participants expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting that the knowledge gained would enhance service delivery and contribute to better health outcomes within their respective facilities.
