The Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) played host to an accreditation team from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN) on Friday, October 24, 2025, as part of efforts to enhance its department of Surgery. The team, led by Prof. Alexander Nwofor, a renowned Urologist from Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, was warmly received by RSUTH’s Chief Medical Director, Prof. Chizindu Alikor.

Prof. Alikor described the visit as a pivotal peer review exercise aimed at strengthening RSUTH’s residency training programs and overall service delivery. He highlighted the hospital’s impressive track record, having successfully undergone 27 accreditation visits in 2024 alone, a testament to the institution’s commitment to excellence and government support.

Prof. Nwofor in His remarks, commended RSUTH for its warm hospitality and reiterated the purpose of the accreditation exercise: to identify areas of strength and opportunities for growth in surgical training.

The RSUTH management team expressed optimism that the visit would yield positive outcomes, further enhancing the hospital’s postgraduate training programs and contributing significantly to medical manpower development in Rivers State.
