The Nigeria Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET) has expressed readiness to collaborate with the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) to advance inclusive education and healthcare for persons with special needs.
During a courtesy visit to the hospital, the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Chizindu Alikor , welcomed the NASET delegation led by its National President, Dr. Catherine. James Atteng and assured the association of RSUTH’s commitment to work closely with the Department of Special Needs Education and Rehabilitation Science, Rivers State University.
Prof. Alikor commended NASET for its dedication to improving the welfare of persons with disabilities and pledged institutional support through relevant departments such as Paediatrics, Physiotherapy, and ENT to strengthen the collaboration.
The visit also featured the presentation of a fellowship award to Prof. Alikor in recognition of his leadership and contributions to special education advocacy.
NASET used the occasion to invite RSUTH to its 37th International Conference, scheduled for June 15–19, 2026, in Port Harcourt.
Both organisations reaffirmed their commitment to promoting inclusion, training, and research initiatives that enhance support for children and adults with special needs.
