In a remarkable acknowledgment of his exceptional dedication to medical education and healthcare advancement, Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor, the Chief Medical Director of Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH), has been awarded by Rivers State University for his outstanding contributions to the development and progress of the College of Medical Sciences.
The prestigious award was presented by the Honorable Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ovy Chinedum Chukwuma, during the maiden induction ceremony of the university’s first cohort of medical doctors. This landmark event, held on February 6, 2025, saw the new doctors officially inducted by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, marking a significant milestone in the university’s history.
RSUTH has played a vital role in undergraduate medical training, serving as the primary teaching hospital for the College of Medical Sciences. The institution has been instrumental in providing clinical exposure, practical training, and mentorship to medical students, ensuring they are well-prepared for professional practice. This remarkable success in producing highly competent medical graduates is largely attributed to the ongoing upgrades in RSUTH’s infrastructure and the continuous human capacity development of its medical staff, made possible through the unwavering support of the Rivers State Government under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, DSc, the Executive Governor of Rivers State.
Prof. Alikor’s recognition is a testament to his relentless efforts and commitment to elevating medical education and healthcare standards in Nigeria. His leadership at RSUTH has not only enhanced the hospital’s capabilities but also contributed significantly to the overall growth of the College of Medical Sciences.
Congratulations to Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor on this well-deserved honor, reflecting his invaluable service to the university and the broader medical community in Nigeria and beyond.
