Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor is a Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, College of Medical Sciences of the Rivers State University, and a Consultant Physician and Cardiologist at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, both in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He currently serves as the Chief Medical Director of the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital. He was the pioneer Head of the Department of Nuclear Medicine at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital and also served as the Head of the Department of Internal Medicine at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital.
Prof. Alikor had the opportunity to study within and outside Nigeria to qualify as a Physician/Cardiologist and a Nuclear Physician. He has published widely in both local and International Scientific Journals and presented academic papers in numerous conferences, both locally and internationally.
Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor is a Fellow, West African College of Physician (FWACP), Fellow, College of Nuclear Physician of South Africa (FCNPSA), Fellow, International Atomic Energy Agency, Austria (IAEA), Fellow, European Society of Cardiology (FESC), Fellow, Nigeria Cardiac Society (NCS), Member of American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC), Member of South African Society of Nuclear Medicine (SASNM), Graduate member of Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM). Holds a Masters Degree from the University of the Free State, South Africa, a PhD in Occupational Health and Safety Studies, a certificate in Management and a certificate in Theology from the Redeemed Bible College.
Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor has also served as the President, Association of Resident Doctors, University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital 2009 – 2010, Secretary, Nigerian Medical Association, Rivers branch 2016- 2018, Chairman, Nigerian Medical Association, Rivers State branch August, 2020 –August 2022, Secretary General of the Nigerian Cardiac Society (2022 till date) and Chairman of NMA National Leadership Development and Retreat Committee. Also currently serves as the Co Chairman of the National Nuclear Medicine Technical Working Group (NM-TWG).
Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor is a Pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God; married to Dr. Mrs Oroma Alikor and blessed with 4 children.
