On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, a high-powered delegation of Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) South-South State Chairmen paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Medical Director of Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH), Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor. The delegation, led by Dr. Diamond Tamunokuro, Chairman of the NMA Rivers Branch included other NMA Branch Chairmen such as Dr. Aniekan Peter from Akwa Ibom, Dr. Wilcox Izineya from Bayelsa, Dr. Adaigho Isreal from Delta, and Dr. Ezoke Epoke from Cross Rivers.

During the visit, discussions focused on enhancing collaboration between the NMA and RSUTH to support ongoing healthcare development initiatives by His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS, the Executive Governor of Rivers State, to improve healthcare delivery in the state and region at large.

 

Prof. Alikor expressed gratitude for the visit and emphasized the importance of unity among medical professionals in addressing the challenges facing the healthcare system. He thanked Governor Fubara for improving the standards of healthcare service delivery in RSUTH which has attracted many recent visits and collaborations. 

The delegation highlighted ongoing initiatives and proposed new strategies aimed at bettering medical practice and patient care. The meeting concluded with a commitment to foster ongoing dialogue and partnerships to advance healthcare standards in the region.
