On Monday, September 16, 2024, the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) welcomed Prof. Peter Ndidi Ebeigbe, President of the National Post Graduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN) on a momentous visit to RSUTH. Prof. Ebeigbe, accompanied by an esteemed team, commended the hospitalโ€™s management for their exceptional contributions to healthcare. He was warmly welcomed by the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor, setting the stage for a day of inspiration and collaboration.

During the Visit, Prof. Ebeigbe expressed admiration for the quality of Healthcare Services offered at RSUTH, setting a commendable standard for teaching hospitals in Nigeria. The dedication to patient care and medical education is evident as RSUTH recently completed multiple successful accreditation visits from various faculties in NPCMN.  

Prof. Alikor warmly welcomed the team and immediately credited the commendations from NPCMN to the enormous investment of the current administration of His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS, the Executive Governor of Rivers State, on Healthcare infrastructure development, Staff welfare and ongoing initiatives to enhance healthcare delivery. RSUTH has achieved so much in a short time especially the successful accreditation visit to 20 clinical departments from both Local and International accrediting bodies including NPMCN. He expressed gratitude for the visit and the recognition from NPMCN as it motivates RSUTH to strive for excellence and continue improving our services to Rivers People and Nigerians at large.

The visit concluded with a roundtable discussion on potential collaborations aimed at enhancing medical education and research in Nigeria. Prof. Ebeigbe reiterated the importance of partnership in overcoming the challenges facing the healthcare sector. As the delegation departed, the spirit of collaboration and mutual respect was evident, promising a brighter future for well-being of Rivers People.
