The Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Unit of the Department of Surgery at Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) on Tuesday November 5th, 2024, commenced an intensive two-day Advanced Wound Care Workshop. The event, aimed at enhancing the knowledge and practical skills of medical professionals, was attended by doctors and nurses from various healthcare institutions across the region.
The workshop, which focuses on the latest advancements in wound management, includes both theoretical sessions and hands-on training, exposing participants to cutting-edge techniques for treating complex wounds, including chronic wounds, burns, and post-surgical complications, with the goal of improving patient outcomes in the Rivers State and beyond.
The Chief Medical Director of RSUTH, Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor, expressed his enthusiasm for the workshop and commended the host department, underscoring the hospital’s commitment to advancing healthcare through continuous professional development. He stated that the workshop aims to enhance the capacity of our doctors and nurses to deliver optimal care to patients who require complex wound management. This is just one of the many initiatives RSUTH is pursuing to improve healthcare delivery in Rivers State and beyond.
The workshop is being facilitated by renowned experts in the field of wound care, with a focus on evidence-based practices, interdisciplinary collaboration, and patient-centered care. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in interactive case studies and discussions designed to deepen their understanding of the complexities involved in wound healing and recovery.
